Limited Seats
Some offers only work with a small group: a coaching cohort of 10, a workshop with 12 chairs in the room, a mastermind you want to keep intimate. Limited seats lets you set a maximum number of sales for a product. Once the last seat is sold, TinyPages closes the checkout for you, so you never have to watch the counter or take the page down at midnight.
Scarcity also helps you sell. When visitors see that seats are limited, and later that only a few remain, deciding now becomes easier than deciding someday.
Setting a seat limit
- Open Products and click the product, or start creating a new one.
- In the pricing section, turn on Limited seats.
- Enter the number of seats you want to sell, and you're done. The setting saves automatically.
When you turn the setting on for a product that already has members, TinyPages suggests a number equal to the seats already taken plus 20, so the product never shows as sold out by accident. Adjust it freely.
The limit works on every kind of product: paid or free, one-time payment, subscription, installments, even bundles. A free workshop with 15 seats fills up just like a paid one.
What your visitors see
Everything below is automatic. There is no banner to design and nothing to update as sales come in.
- Plenty of seats left: your product card and checkout show a simple "Limited seats" mention, without a number. Visitors know the offer is not unlimited, but an early buyer doesn't see an empty room.
- 5 seats or fewer remaining, or 20% of the total or less: the mention becomes "Only X seats left" with the live count. This is the moment scarcity does its work.
- All seats sold: the checkout is closed. Anyone landing on it sees a clear "Sold out" message, and the buy buttons on your pages show it too.
Having the checkout page open does not reserve a seat: the limit is checked again right before the payment goes through, so a page left open in a tab can't buy a seat that was sold in the meantime.
How seats are counted
Each member of the product takes at least one seat, whether they bought it, joined through a free checkout, or were added by you manually or through an import.
A few details worth knowing:
- Seats are never given back. A refund or a revoked access does not reopen a seat. If you want to resell it, raise the limit by one.
- The same person can buy several seats. A client who purchases the product twice, one seat for them and one for their spouse for example, counts for two in your counters, exactly as if two people had bought. In your members list they appear on a single line, with a small ×2 badge and its tooltip showing how many seats they hold.
- Order bumps and upsells count too. If the product is sold as an add-on during another product's checkout, those sales take seats. Just note that a sold-out product offered as an order bump or upsell is not blocked yet, so keep an eye on the limit if you use it that way.
Following your sales
In your Products list, a limited product shows a compact counter, 7/10 for example, so you can see how it is filling at a glance. On the product's page, next to the Limited seats setting, you get the live count of seats sold and seats remaining.
